Artist Series
South Florida Community College began presenting evening performances in the fall of 1984. The season consists of ten performances that run from November through March. The Artist Series features a wide variety of quality entertainment focusing on orchestras, musicals, pops, dance, and comedy. Internationally acclaimed entertainers have graced the auditorium stage for over 20 years, including Victor Borge, Roger Williams, the Smothers Brothers, Rich Little, Bob Newhart, Paul Anka, Engelbert Humperdink, Anne Murray, Marie Osmond, and Doc Severinsen.
Matinee Series
Originally named the Senior Enrichment Series, South Florida Community College began presenting the afternoon performances in the winter of 1980. The series presents ten performances which are held every Tuesday afternoon for ten consecutive weeks from early January to March. The Matinee Series features performances by outstanding local and regional talent as well as well-known names such as JoAnn Castle, The Diamonds, and John Davidson.
Summer Series
The Summer Series features well known country and rock/pop performances. The first Summer Series concert was held in June of 2005. Performers have included Three Dog Night, Creedence Clearwater Revisited, B.J. Thomas, Survivor, and Lou Gramm of Foreigner.
Chamber Series
The 2003-2004 season witnessed the origin of the SFCC Chamber Series with performances by the Kaleidoscope String Quartet, duo pianists Whipple and Morales, and flutist Donna Wissinger. Three performances are scheduled each season for the enjoyment of area residents who enjoy classical music.
Jazz Series
The SFCC Jazz Series began in November of 2003 with a performance by vibist Tom Toyama. The Jazz Series season showcases three outstanding performances featuring a wide variety of jazz styles. Recent performances include the Salty Dogs Jazz Band and the Four Freshmen.
Kaleidoscope Series
The Kaleidoscope Series is a newer addition to our wide variety of programs. This compelling new series features storytellers, musicians, scholars, and other thought-provoking presentations. Recent performances include Bobby Horton – Songs and Stories of the Civil War, and a Japanese storyteller by the name of Kuniko Yamamoto. This series began in the 2005-2006 season.
India Fine Art Series
The India Fine Arts Series began in the 2006-2007 season with a performance by famed classical Indian singer Lakshmi Shankar, sister in law to Ravi Shankar. The series was made possible by a generous donation by a local couple. SFCC is proud to provide a series for area residents who enjoy classical Indian music.
